Accreditation & Registration

Professional training at IPSA is intended to provide a be-spoke pathway for career and personal development.

Different territories define or regulate professional titles and roles in different ways. For example, in the United Kingdom, psychotherapy and related modalities are not state regulated. In the United States, regulation depends upon relevant legislature within each of the 50 states. Similarly, territories such as the European Union, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, have their own regulatory and licencing processes, as do other territories world-wide.

For professionals who are already qualified and registered in their home territory, IPSA training can be commenced as specialist post-professional, or Continuing Professional Development (CPD) qualifications, in Psycho-Systems Analysis, or in any of its modalities.

For those new to the field, and who live in territories that have strict regulation of professional title or role, IPSA offers Diplomate Qualifications in Coaching – which is generally an unregulated professional title.  IPSA Coaching qualifications include all aspects of training covered by our psychotherapy/depth psychology modalities, with appropriate additional training in Coaching, providing the very highest level of professional development and practice.

Admission Requirements

IPSA Training meets the accepted standards for post-graduate level professional competence in the United Kingdom.

Training is therefore at a minimum of Master’s degree level of attainment, but with the focus being on practical professional competence, rather than abstract academic process.

IPSA welcomes graduates in any discipline, to train in our professional modalities, but long experience has shown that prior formal academic achievement is not in itself an indicator of future professional competence. We have decades of experience in successfully training people without formal academic qualifications, and some of these have gone on to become the very best, and most competent of professional therapists.

Accordingly, IPSA does not select trainees on the basis of their formal education, but instead on two fundamental human qualities: those of character, and of calling.

Character
Character here refers to a person’s irreducible nature and core values, it is the essence that defines them as a human being, as they develop along their life-span development trajectory. To be of fundamentally ‘good’ character, does not mean being perfect, but it does mean an essential drive within someone to do the best they can to develop their humanistic potential.

Calling
Calling, is the internally felt representation of a ‘voice’ that calls us toward a particular path in life. If our calling is to work with the suffering psyche and wider life of others, through the medium of our worked-through character, then the psychological therapies, particularly the depth-psychological therapies, that engage with mind-body interrelationships and the unfolding of a healing lifespan development, then you will have a home here at IPSA.

If you feel you have the essentials of both Character and Calling, then we welcome your application to train professionally at IPSA.
